Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ: Do you have questions about the upcoming Downtown Parking Lot construction?

Starting September 3, 2024, the downtown waterfront municipal parking will be under heavy construction for improvements and flood water protection. During this period, there will be limited usage for visitors, residents and business owners. Please contact Andy Dorr, Damariscotta Town Manager, with any questions, comments, concerns or for temporary downtown parking access.

FAQ: When is the best time to visit?

All year! Unlike other Maine coastal towns, Damariscotta is active year round as the primary service center for the surrounding region and Lincoln County. There are very few shops and dining establishments that are seasonal. Memorial Day through Columbus Day (May-October) is the town's traditional tourist season. Weekends are especially busy during this time period. Mid week is a great time visit during the Summer and early Fall. It is always best to call ahead and confirm a business' hours any time of year.

FAQ: How far is Downtown Damariscotta from nearby airports?

  • Portland, ME is 1hr away without traffic.
  • Bangor, ME is 1hr 45min away without traffic.
  • Boston, MA is 3hr away without traffic.

FAQ: Is there public electric vehicle charging available for visitors?

Yes! There are two FREE J-1772 chargers located downtown in the public parking lot. The charging station is located next to the public restrooms and powered by renewable energy. Available 24/7/365.

FAQ:Where can we stay overnight?

There are no hotel or motel chains located in Damariscotta or the neighboring towns. However, the region has many quaint 'bed & breakfast' accommodations and a plethora of vacation rental options.
